Like Night and Day

Admittedly not my best photography – these are cellphone photos (I sent my camera with Daughter Trinidad to Hawaii – she’s currently on a trip there with her high school marching band) – but I thought I would share the difference here between yesterday afternoon and pre-dawn today.

This morning – by daybreak there was 4 inches of snow on the ground

Poor Trin – she’s been wishing for snow for weeks!

The Sound of Music

For the weekly photo challenge: Delicate

This year there are two flutists in my family (as well as two teenagers) and sometimes our schedule doesn’t afford time for separate practice. In order for Trinidad and Rane to practice separate pieces of music simultaneously, each girl must use a gentle breath and delicate fingering.

Many thanks to Gilliam Music and Norman Public Schools for their assistance in providing flutes for these girls to play 🙂

Coffee Mate

What it lacked in looks, it made up for in personality. This bug entertained me recently with a game of hide and seek while I sat on the back porch with my morning coffee.

Grandma Was Here

My husband found a patch of cactus in the woods behind our home last evening. He told our children, “Grandma was here,” meaning she had planted the cactus when she lived on our property years ago. She now lives in town, and my husband has been working to restore our land to the pristine condition it was in when he was a boy. My young son loves cactus, and has been asking me to plant cactus seeds,so the discovery of this patch was a pleasant surprise in more ways than one.

Visitors

Through the years we have had many creatures come to our property – goats, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, to name a few. Our most recent visitors were much smaller than usual; we have had the pleasure of briefly getting to know a caterpillar, a snail, and a very brave moth.

I discovered this little guy in my washing machine – he survived an entire wash cycle
